Bridal satin – the heavy satin
It's in the name: Here you have a festive and elegant satin in extra thick quality, which gives nice volume and a truly elegant fall.
The fabric is perfect for the dress for the bride, bridesmaids and confirmation party (but can of course also be used for other projects!).
A little practical about this satin
The heavy satin – 195 g/m2 – gives the most beautiful drape without appearing heavy or bulky to wear.
You buy the fabric by the metre, so you get exactly the length you need. It measures 145 cm wide and is made of 100% polyester. Wash at 40°, hang dry and iron at low heat.
TIP : Pay attention to the thread direction when laying out your pattern pieces. Your project will often follow the thread direction to get the right look. And when you're working on the pattern, use fine needles to hold it in place – it glides easily on the shiny surface. Search for “9 tips for sewing in satin” for more good advice.
What is satin?
Satin refers to the way the fabric is woven, where one side of the material is smooth and shiny. For this satin you will need microtex needles.
